Network assistant (one job)

Grade G4

Reporting to: Senior Systems Analyst

Duty Station: EAC Headquarters - Arusha, Tanzania

The main purpose of the work:

Plan and implement effective and efficient information systems support programs and implement support and maintenance of information technology equipment and systems.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical help desk support to all computer users and ensure the smooth operation of help desk support services;
  2. Day-to-day management of existing information systems to ensure information technology is best utilized to support business operations and administration management of all systems;
  3. maintenance, updating or improvement of existing user systems; Troubleshoot and provide ongoing user support, to include troubleshooting and advice on the use of new technologies; Consult users who are experiencing technical problems to determine appropriate solutions;
  4. Perform routine updates to software systems (applications, security software, and operating systems);
  5. Participation in the implementation and operation of voice and data communications projects.
  6. Develop maintenance procedures to improve performance and reliability;
  7. Measure data traffic and take action to eliminate bottlenecks;
  8. implementation of security and protection measures;
  9. Assist in the design, implementation, management and maintenance of LAN and WAN networks in the organization; Configure and tune LAN and WAN equipment for optimal performance;
  10. Assist suppliers during the periodic maintenance of ICT equipment; Y
  11. Evaluate the resources of the local network and provide technical analysis and recommendations for the acquisition of new equipment.
  12. Perform any other function assigned by management

Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma in Computer Science/Telecommunications Engineering/Software Engineering or equivalent.

At least 5 years of relevant work experience.


Skills and competencies:

Good interpersonal skills and ability to work under minimal supervision.

You must be innovative, have a team, a high level of integrity and demonstrate confidentiality.

Eligibility to apply:

After the decision of the forty-first meeting of the Council of Ministers, only candidates from the Republic of South Sudan have the right to apply for the position mentioned above.

Terms and Conditions of Service:

The above position is valid for a five (5) year renewable contract.

Educational Qualifications:

All candidates must have qualifications recognized by the appropriate national accreditation body in the Republic of South Sudan. This requirement applies to qualifications obtained nationally and internationally.

All professions requiring registration with designated professional bodies are expected to do so in accordance with the requirements of the Republic of South Sudan.

Related work experience:

Education, training, and apprenticeships will not be considered relevant work experience.
