Position: Conservation Manager
WWF (WWF) Tanzania We are looking for a dynamic and committed Conservation Manager to support conservation efforts at the WWF Tanzania Country Office based in Dar es Salaam.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures that the Country Director, Regional Office for Africa, and relevant WWF committees develop and approve a conservation plan relevant to national policies, constituencies, and civil society, and aligned with the Africa Conservation Plan Regional Office ;
- Ensures that the conservation plan is implemented effectively and contributes to the vision of WWF's global program framework;
- Ensures robust delivery of WWF KPIs in Tanzania;
- In line with the Strategic Plan, develops annual action plans for the conservation program with clear priorities for WWF Tanzania, and ensures their efficient implementation;
- In line with network-level monitoring and reporting system requirements, ensures the establishment and implementation of a monitoring and reporting system for WWF Tanzania that measures its performance against its conservation plan, while providing support to projects field for improvement. ;
- Ensures strategic/political engagement with relevant international and national stakeholders on conservation and related issues;
- Promotes the vision and goals of WWF Tanzania's strategic and conservation plans to the government, donors, civil society, corporations, and WWF at national and international meetings, conferences, and forums, in collaboration with the Country Director.
- Perform your duties as a team member for regional and global practice programs by actively participating in team meetings and calls; Provide input and review key documents shared with the core team (e.g. fundraising concepts, proposals, etc.)
- Oversee the implementation of the WWF Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF),
- Performs other functions at the request of the Country Director or his representative.
- Identifies and aligns with WWF's core values: courage, integrity, respect, and cooperation.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies Required
- Master's degree in an appropriate field (Conservation/Environment/Marine Natural Resource Management/Forestry/Freshwater/Terrestrial Environment). Doctor. In the related field of conservation, it would be an added bonus.
- More than seven years of experience in the direction, development, and management of large programs/projects in one or more of the above areas. Experience with multi-disciplinary teams, as well as in the southern African region (preferably Tanzania), will be a great advantage.
- Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation of programs/projects; Y
- Knowledge of the institutional and legal framework for the environment and conservation in Tanzania, as well as relevant policy issues.
- Proven leadership skills;
- Proven experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic plans and policies;
- Strong skills in project planning, financing, management, implementation, and evaluation;
- Experience working with government and donor/government aid agencies;
- Proven knowledge and experience of the non-profit sector, preferably environmental NGOs;
