 The purpose of the role

The role of the Social Welfare Officer exists to support the implementation of welfare policies aimed at guaranteeing safe and dignified spaces for all employees and dependents of the UTTL, Guidelines, Programs and Security Program for Women, Children, and Girls in close collaboration with the operating units and departments

Responsibilities

  • Social infrastructure
  • Provide specific support in establishing standards of care for care facilities and activities, i.e. homes, schools, social halls, etc.
  • Carry out regular inspections and reviews of welfare facilities and develop corrective action plans in consultation with the unit managers in their area and the welfare manager
  • Regularly and systematically monitor the implementation of corrective action plans and prepare a monthly report on the condition of your area
  • Work with Unit Managers to identify, plan, and implement corrective steps needed to address gaps noted in the status report.
  • Maintain close contact with the unit management team in your area on the progress of care facility maintenance.
  • In conjunction with the Report of the Director of Welfare on Progress in the Improvement of Social Infrastructure in the Steering Committee for the Promotion of Dignity
  • Coordinate research and data collection on the needs of the Social Capital Expenditure Project among employees and advise the Welfare Manager on employee needs and satisfaction levels.
  • Keep track of the schedules and deliverables of CAPEX social projects in your area; Measure performance against targets and identify and address causes of deviation in consultation with the engineering department.

  • Together with the unit management team and other departments, as appropriate, promote water treatment and conservation of water, electricity, and other utilities in the villages.

  • Participate in the meetings of the Dignity Improvement Committee with the leadership team and implement the actions in the units that it deems appropriate.

  • Combine it with possible areas of concern for your unit's unit and take steps to alleviate or prevent an escalation of anxiety.
  • Analyze the trend of social welfare and SGBV complaints and cases in your area, identify hot spots and root causes, and design interventions to address them in consultation with the social welfare manager and unit manager.
  • In consultation with a Business Integrity Officer, track the progress of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) cases in your area and support faster resolution of cases.

  • Support the familiarization of new employees with all wellness policies and the Code of Business Principles
  • In conjunction with the Director of Social Welfare, work with external stakeholders to provide human rights training and counseling, among other social care needs.

  • Train and guide the employees of their teams on welfare and human rights issues.

  • Conduct a pre-and post-training assessment to determine levels of knowledge retention and understanding among learners.

  • Implementation of guidelines for handling welfare complaints
  • Facilitate the resolution of disputes in welfare matters
  • Train and equip the complaints handling committee and provide them with specific technical support based on needs.
  • Inform the Social Welfare and other company policies to all employees and dependents when necessary.

  • Provide psychosocial support to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), their families, and others in need.
  • Confidentially collect and document customer data for support only
  • Facilitate referral of the survivor to other support services, such as medical reports and the police.
  • Training and education for all employees on psychosocial support
  • Peer Counseling Training and Peer Counseling Coordination
  • Coordinate with the teachers of the UTT schools to provide school services to children affected or survivors of gender violence.
  • Periodic and adequate follow-up so that the survivor can adapt and lead a normal life
  • Regularly coordinate debriefings for psychosocial support providers, including managers and team leaders, to help them deal with possible secondary trauma.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Social Welfare, coordinate outside supervision of the counseling support team with the goal of preventing 'burnout' and maintaining high-quality communications between provider and survivor.
  • Conduct a social impact assessment as directed by the Code Review Committee. This includes analyzing, monitoring, and proposing mitigation measures to manage the intended and unintended social, environmental and economic consequences, both positive and negative, of disciplinary action against people affected by cases of sexual and gender-based violence.
  • Participate in the preparation of the care budgets of the unit.

  • Monitor the use of the budget of the social unit and participate in the review of the budget for social welfare programs.

External stakeholders

  • In consultation with the Director of Security, report cases of sexual and gender-based violence to the police and provide the necessary support as agreed in the Consolidation of Evidence
  • Hold regular review sessions with district heads to update progress on child protection and local conflict resolution.
  • Together with superiors, hold regular village ceremonies to educate employees and their families about the law and other company policies.
  • In consultation with the Wellness Manager, support the implementation of wellness programs launched in partnership with other organizations and facilitate the smooth running of the program at the district level.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in any social science, psychology, sociology, or human resources
  • At least two years of relevant experience in an accredited organization.
  • Experience and understanding of gender development and human rights is a plus.
  • Experience in providing psychosocial support.
  • Experience with local authorities and government officials.
  • Depending on job/location requirements, travel will likely be the domestic driving ability
