About the role
As Program Manager, you will oversee the development, implementation, coordination and management of Sightsavers programs in Tanzania. You will ensure that projects and programs in Tanzania are delivered to organizational standards and provide leadership to program teams and partners.
The Program Manager will support the development or Tanzania Country Strategic Plan and program portfolio alignment and identification of new programs, supervise project/program officers, take the lead on eye health programming, education and social inclusion and will lead the commitments of association, promotion and participation.
Other key duties and responsibilities of the Program Manager include:
Support in the identification of new and strategic programs and assist in the development of programs through the writing of proposals.
Lead the program team to compile and submit all required periodic reports in the required quality and in a timely manner.
Ensure that all aspects of the program are effectively monitored and evaluated, and that learning is used systematically to continually improve all projects and programs.
Support partners and project/program officers to manage all aspects of the project cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts for projects and monitor expenditures against these and advise the Country Director on financial trends.
Identify and advise the Country Director on new strategic partnerships within the country to help develop the Sightsavers program.
Support the development and implementation of plans/advocacy efforts for the Tanzania country program
Provide effective line management support to PCs/POs, including performance management and learning and development.
This role requires regular travel to visit partners in Tanzania and occasional visits to other countries in the region.

About you
As a successful candidate, you will have experience in a similar role (ideally within an INGO), possess experience in all areas of program and project management, especially in health, education and advocacy, and have experience in program development and design.
Job Holder Requirements
Essential:
Project Cycle Management (PCM)
Understanding of eye health, education, social inclusion and NTD programs
Monitoring and implementation of quality standards.
Creation and development of associations and networks
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to understand and work with project budgets, forecasts and reports.
Fundraising skills (donor engagement, concept development, and proposal writing)
Donor relationship management and grant management
Analytical skills (analysis of particular policies, development of some research tools, surveys and reports)
