Abstract

The East African Community (EAC) is a regional intergovernmental organization for the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of Burundi, and the Republic of South Sudan with headquarters in Arusha, Tanzanian. 

EAC's mission is to expand and deepen economic, political, social, and cultural integration to improve the quality of life for the people of East Africa through increased competitiveness, value-added production, trade, and investment.

This is an exciting opportunity for the following paid-for-performance professionals and citizens from East African Community partner countries (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Uganda) to run for the next seat in the Legislative Assembly of East Africa (EALA):

Senior Writer's Assistant (3 jobs)

Organ: Legislative Assembly of East Africa


Grade: P2

Reports to: Assistant Lead Writer

Work Station: Arusha, Tanzania

The main purpose of the work:

Facilitate conference committees and plenary sessions.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Provide secretarial services to association committees.
  2. Custody of the magazines of the association.
  3. Prepare application documents, votes and actions, suggestions, and questions.
  4. the clerk at the table
  5. Draft Amendments to Bills
  6. Advise the President and members of the House of Representatives on legislative procedures.
  7. Conducting action research
  8. Carrying out research and studies related to the committees in coordination with the Research Office
  9. Perform any other function assigned by management.


Qualifications and experience:


Bachelor's degree in public administration, law, social sciences or related;

Postgraduate degrees in any of the areas listed above, specialized training in parliamentary procedures, and knowledge of the operations of regional parliaments would be an added advantage;

At least eight (8) years of relevant experience, three (3) of which must be at a higher level.


Skills and competencies:

The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, effective research and report writing skills. Mastery of computer applications essential.

Terms and Conditions of Service:

The above position is valid for a five (5) year contract, renewable once.

This position is subject to the application of the quota system.

Related work experience:

Training and apprenticeships will not be considered relevant work experience.
