The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) is a religious organization registered on June 19, 1963, with offices in Arusha. The ELCT's mission is to provide comprehensive care to all people. The ELCT is headed by an Archbishop who is chosen from among the serving bishops of the diocese. Management oversight and leadership are provided by the ELCT Secretary-General assisted by four Assistant Secretaries-General (DSGs), including the DSG for Mission and Evangelism, the DSG for Social Services, Women and Children's Services, the DSG for Planning and Development, and the DSG for Finance and Administration. ELCT has applied for USAID funding to implement the Orphan and Vulnerable Children Support Project, a proposed opportunity in six regions of Tanzania, including Morogoro, Dodoma, Singida, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Tanga.

Regularly update and maintain the ELCT OVC Next Generation website and other social media content with new and engaging content, including news/announcements, new resources, events, job openings, project updates, new members, and more.

Work with a third-party company to make deeper, long-term adjustments and improvements to the website.

Manage projects' social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, ensuring active engagement across all accounts.

Monitor website and social media statistics, develop and analyze quarterly reports, and make recommendations to increase online traffic and engagement.

Develop, update and publish project materials.

Drafting and supervision of the design of the project's annual report.

Publish monthly/quarterly e-newsletter, sharing the latest updates from the project, implementing partners, and the field.

Create and update promotional materials, including brochures, presentations, and project cases/success stories

Conducting interviews with project staff, beneficiaries, and partners at events and through field, visits to develop new promotional materials, educational materials, case stories, etc. Through a variety of media (print, online, video, etc.).

Make sure all print and online communications are consistent with USAID's brand messaging and marketing policies and strategies.

Qualification.

  • A master's degree in public health, communication, media studies, public relations, or a related master's degree is preferred.
  • At least five years of communications experience, planning, writing, editing, and producing communications through a variety of print and online media.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrate the ability to convey messages through clear and concise writing.
  • Promotion of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Experience managing websites and social networks. WordPress experience is preferred.
  • Experience with webinars and online learning platforms. The Adobe Connect experience is a plus.
  • The domain of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Premiere). Graphic design experiences are a plus.
  • Photography and/or video production skills preferred.
  • The ability to multi-task, remain calm and organized under pressure, and supervise multiple contractors is required.
  • Great attention to detail is required.
  • Fluency in written English and Swahili is required.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.

Therefore, ELCT is looking for qualified and competent candidates to fill various positions for this long-awaited donor-funded project to be implemented in the northeastern region of Tanzania. Positions in this proposed project cover senior, middle, and lower management, including technical staff for the technical areas proposed in the project. Vacant: Communications and Knowledge Manager (1 position)

General Duties:

The Communications and Knowledge Manager will oversee internal and external communications and knowledge management strategies to improve communication and knowledge sharing between the Next Generation OVC project, ELCT, implementing CSOs, sub-donors, and donors, advocating for programs key to orphans and vulnerable children and the community. health activities and messages, statement of values ​​The project and its impact in the field. She will be responsible for writing/reviewing, editing, and designing all project reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. A monthly/quarterly e-newsletter will also be published, sharing the latest updates from the project, implementing partners, and the field. Promotional materials will also be created and updated, including a project page, brochures, presentations, and case/success stories.


General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Develop an annual communication and knowledge management strategy and monitor its implementation.
  2. Develop a communication protocol and strategy for all communications within the program and externally with government, partners and donors.
  3. Develop and update the communication and knowledge management strategy based on the project work plan. The strategy must include an implementation plan with measurable results.
  4. Maintain a communications calendar that includes key events, dates, and deadlines throughout the year.
  5. Select print, electronic and personal vehicles to connect with key audiences and increase project awareness and partnership opportunities.
  6. Conduct periodic evaluations of the results of communication and knowledge management, and adjust the strategy as necessary.
  7. Support the implementation of program management activities related to communications both at headquarters and in the regions.
  8. Promote collaboration and mutual learning between the project, its members and the International Community Health Network.
  9. Manage communications during the planning, implementation, and follow-up of project conferences and other events, including event promotion, knowledge acquisition during events, reporting and post-event outreach. Provide additional support to the event as needed. Events can be local, international or online/virtual.
  10. Conduct member and community outreach activities in person and online to promote knowledge sharing and solicit input on member and community needs.
  11. Ensure all program branding and communication policies are well documented and accessible to employees on a monthly basis
  12. Seek and develop opportunities to increase member participation and support.
