VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE ANTICIPATED PROJECT
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) is a religious organization registered on June 19, 1963, with offices in Arusha. The ELCT's mission is to provide comprehensive care to all people. The ELCT is headed by an Archbishop who is chosen from among the serving bishops of the diocese. Management oversight and leadership are provided by the ELCT Secretary-General assisted by four Assistant Secretaries-General (DSGs), including the DSG for Mission and Evangelism, the DSG for Social Services, Women and Children's Services, the DSG for Planning and Development, and the DSG for Finance and Administration. ELCT has applied for USAID funding to implement the Orphan and Vulnerable Children Support Project, a proposed opportunity in six regions of Tanzania, including Morogoro, Dodoma, Singida, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Tanga.
Therefore, ELCT is looking for qualified and competent candidates to fill various positions for this long-awaited donor-funded project to be implemented in the northeastern region of Tanzania. Positions in this proposed project cover senior, middle, and lower management, including technical staff for the technical areas proposed in the project. The intervention of the project aims to facilitate the provision of comprehensive services aimed at keeping all subgroups of the population, children, and vulnerable adolescents in good health, safety, school, and stability.

Vacant: Senior Livelihoods and Economic Strengthening Officer (1 position)
Reporting to: Provision of technical director services
Location: Head Office in Arusha General Duties:
The incumbent will be responsible for the technical and administrative aspects of project implementation to improve child well-being outcomes. He reports directly to the Technical Director to provide services and ensure the project meets stated goals, expected results, and reporting requirements. He will take a technical leadership role in designing and promoting the use of evidence-based activities to diversify and stimulate household income growth and integrate economic activities with complementary interventions throughout the project.
- He provides technical and managerial leadership, including the design and implementation of strategies, programs, or technical tools in specific technical areas related to the promotion of home economics and AGYW.
- Demonstrate technical leadership and coordination for project staff and civil society organizations, and develop a vision and plans to achieve project goals through collaboration with national and local governments, NGOs, civil society, and others partners.
- Train CSO Economic Promotion/Livelihoods staff, conduct training, lead workshops and facilitate group interaction as part of project implementation towards specific outcomes and objectives.
- Travel to project areas periodically to monitor program activities and provide support to field staff.
- Manage project activities and set high-quality performance targets that ensure compliance with technical standards, best practices, and donor guidelines.
- Provides technical advice based on experience and knowledge of methods, evidence-based strategies, current, and operational practices, and established standards to ensure quality and accurate design.
- Builds proven capabilities of local implementing partners to deliver high-quality programs with results.
- Share new knowledge/evidence and best practices through collaboration with staff, CSOs, and other partners
- Develop tools to design and implement specific technological components.
Required qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Business Administration, International Relations or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience. Teachers function will be added
- Minimum experience of 5 years in Economic Promotion / Livelihoods, in large projects
- 5 years of prior USAID experience preferred.
- 5 years of OVC work experience preferred.
- Practical experience in the design and implementation of training.
- Ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
